Collegue and Forex: college life

I’m 19, a college student and interested in starting Forex trading.

I recently got interested in making my money grow more especially during this pandemic. I have always wanted to start forex trading ever since I started investing (mutual funds) at 15 years old but I knew the risks were too high for me at that age. Could you guys recommend me free tutorials maybe on youtube (if they’re recommendable) or some free resources found online? And maybe tips and tricks of your own? Also if possible, I’d like to know some sites where I can trade for a minimal starting price since I’m only a student. Thank you very much and happy trading! :)

As a college student who wants to learn more about forex and stocks, which classes should I take?

I'm a senior and have not taken any Econ/Finance/Accounting classes before but am interested in learning about forex and asking you guys what classes would give me a good grasp of how forex works. Do Micro or Macroeconomics help with this? Which one is more practical? Thanks!

The South African equivalent of r/wallstreetbets has been created

For those who would like to talk about their trades in a not very serious way and show off whatever smart or dumb decisions you've made with your children's college fund and grandmother's inheritance, JSE_Bets is the place for you!
I welcome traders and betters of all kinds to share what they are doing there (forex, equities and commodities are all welcome) but all I ask is that it be related it to Africa as whole in some way.
As for myself, I'm just a broke uni student doing trades with some spare cash as a bit of a hobby, so I would love it if others could join me in creating a fun and light hearted space for African investors and traders by making your first post over there as a new thread or in the Weekly Discussion Thread just posted.

(USA) At what age should Forex be introduced as part of the public schools curriculum?

In order to avoid age restrictions, imagine there was a platform that was made from the ground up to demo trade, with no option to live trade.

Starting to sell my services

Lately, I have been researching all sorts of ecom revenue sources and for me the most rewarding seems to be selling my own services by doing what I love. I would love to spend a lot of time learning more about dropshipping, Forex/HFX, Amazon, Depop, Ebay, etc., but as someone with a stress disorder, I do not think those are the best options for me personally, as I have little faith in the process and do not get very excited about it. I want to be able to make a fair amount by selling my audio production services. I am an 18 year old college student in downtown Atlanta who has a nice recording program, synthesizer, and soon a microphone. I believe that doing what I love will strongly benefit how much work I put into my business. I believe anyone with a strength capitalize off of their strengths if actually learn how to sell it. I do not expect to get a bunch of money right off the bat, but I want to hear ideas for what makes a TEEN'S business as professional as possible. I have considered Fiverr as a platform for purchasing a music service, although I am uncertain with what will equate to success.
My worry is over-saturation of the beat-making and audio production industry (especially on Fiverr). How can I separate myself from others doing the same thing and earn a profit? I am already planning on starting an instagram account and perhaps a website to help professionalize my business. I want to be able to confidently market and promote my product so I know I am showing that I have a true music theory education and advanced knowledge that will assist the customer in having a quality product/service. From a business perspective, what will help my validity and value be treasured by others to gain a reliable money flow?
Thank you all :)

Top 5 Most Famous Traders Of All Time

In all industries there are people credited to being the simplest .
In design, the late Steve Jobs is credited to being the simplest in his industry. In boxing, Muhammad Ali was credited to being the simplest boxer of all time.
In U.S. politics, there's a consensus that Lincoln was the nation’s greatest President by every measure applied.
In the trading world, a variety of traders are known worldwide for his or her skills. From Jesse Livermore to George Soros, we are sharing these tales of past and present traders who had to claw their thanks to the highest .
Here, we'll check out the five most famous traders of all time and canopy a touch bit about each trader and why they became so famous.
Jesse Livermore
Jesse Livermore jumped into the stock exchange with incredible calculations at the age of 15, amassed huge profits, then lost all of them , then mastered two massive crises and came out the opposite side while following his own rules, earning him the nickname “The Great Bear of Wall Street.”
Livermore was born in 1877 in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.
Visit شركة اكويتي السعودية
He is remembered for his incredible risk taking, his gregarious method of reading the potential moves within the stock exchange , derivatives and commodities, and for sustaining vast losses also as rising to fortune.
He began his career having run far away from home by carriage to flee a lifetime of farming that his father had planned for him, instead choosing city life and finding work posting stock quotes at Paine Webber, a Boston stockbroker.
Livermore bought his first share at 15 and earned a profit of $3.12 from $5 after teaching himself about trends.
George Soros
George Soros has a fantastic backstory.
Born in Hungary in 1930 to Jewish parents, Soros survived the Holocaust and later fled the country when the Communists took power. He went on to become one among the richest men and one among the foremost famous philanthropists within the world.
Most day traders know him for his long and prolific career as a trader who famously “broke the Bank of England” in 1992. Soros made an enormous bet against British Pound, which earned him $1 billion in profit in only 24 hours.
Along with other currency speculators, he placed a bet against the bank’s ability to carry the road on the pound. He borrowed pounds, then sold them, helping to down the worth of the currency on forex markets and ultimately forcing the united kingdom to crash out of the ecu rate of exchange Mechanism.
It was perhaps the quickest billion dollars anyone has ever made and one among the foremost famous trades ever taken, which later became referred to as “breaking the Bank of England”.
Soros is believed to have netted a complete of about $44 billion through financial speculation. And he has used his fortune to find thousands of human rights, democracy, health, and education projects.
Richard Dennis
There are only a couple of traders which will take a little amount of cash and switch it into millions and Richard Dennis was one among them.
Known as the “Prince of the Pit”, Dennis is claimed to have borrowed $1,600 when he was around 23 years old and turned it into $200 million in about 10 years trading commodities. Even more interesting to notice , he only traded $400 of the $1,600.
Not only did he achieve great success as a commodities trader, he also went on to launch the famous “Turtle Traders Group”. Using mini contracts, Dennis began to trade his own account at the Mid America commodities exchange .
He made a profit of $100,000 in 1973. The subsequent year, he capitalized on a runway soybean market to earn $500,000 in profits. He became an impressive millionaire at the top of the year.
However, he incurred massive losses within the Black Monday stock exchange crash in 1987 and therefore the dot-com bubble burst in 2000.
While he's famous for creating and losing tons of cash , Dennis is additionally famous for something else – an experiment. He and his friend William Eckhardt recruited and trained traders, a couple of men and ladies, the way to trade futures. These so-called Turtle Traders went on to form profits of $175 million in 4 years, consistent with a former student.
Paul Tudor Jones
Paul Tudor Jones thrust into the limelight within the 80s when he successfully predicted the 1987 stock exchange , as shown within the riveting one hour documentary called “Trader”.
The legendary trader was born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1954. His father ran a financial and legal trade newspaper. While he was in college, he want to write articles for the newspaper under the pseudonym, “Eagle Jones”.
Jones began his journey within the finance business by trading cotton. He started trading on his own following 4 years of non-trading experience, made profits from his trades but got bored, and later hired people to trade for him so he would not get bored.
But the trade that shot him to fame came on Black Monday in 1987, when he made an estimated $100 million whilst the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 22%.
He became a pioneer within the area of worldwide macro investing and was an enormous player within the meteoric growth of the hedge fund industry. He's also known for depending on currencies and interest rates.
He founded his hedge fund, Tudor Investment Corp, in 1980. The fund currently has around $21 billion in assets under management and he himself has an estimated net worth of nearly $5.8 Billion.
John Paulson
Super-trader John Paulson built a private fortune worth $4.4 billion from managing other people’s money. Born in 1955, Paulson made his name and far of his money betting a huge amount of money against the U.S. housing market during the worldwide financial crisis of 2007–2008.
Paulson bought insurance against defaults by subprime mortgages before the market collapse in 2007. He netted an estimated $20 billion on the collapse of the subprime mortgage market, dubbed the best trade ever.
However, his diary since that bet has been patchy at the best . Within the years following the financial crisis, Paulson struggled to match this success.
Failed bets on gold, healthcare and pharmaceutical stocks caused investors to escape his hedge fund Paulson & Co, cutting its assets under management to $10 billion as of January 2020 from a high of $36 billion in 2011.
Earlier this year, Paulson announced the fund would stop managing money for outdoor clients and switch it into a family office. He launched the fund in 1994.

KFC6855/环球潮鞋: The Secrets of Replica Sneaker Selling

KFC6855/环球潮鞋: The Secrets of Replica Sneaker Selling
Following a post from u/donjonne about a HUGE Weibo story on how to actually start your own 1:1 repsneaker empire, I figured as a native Mandarin speaker I gave it a shot and translated the entire article, since I myself am pretty damn intrigued what the guy's speaking.Do note this article is written in March 2017, lots of stuff may have been outdated, and I translated word-for-word with some pruned paragraphs that seems like the fella repeating himself. I absolutely hate the weird flowery prose Mandarin always carry when I work on translations, so apologies if the in-jokes or general writing gets a bit dry.
This is my personal tl;dr without the author's boastful claims, so if you're short on time, here's the quick rundown.

How do replica sneakers get sold?

Taobao: Long history with the reputation for being the single biggest online BST hub, with Tmall and Xianyu Second-hands integrated. Lots of fake reviews and seller reputation ratings. The rep game there got outta hand, CEO of Alibaba stepped in and cleaned house, thus everyone moved to...
WeChat: Lots more convoluted, no proper tracking and confirmation like a real shopping app and build quality can vary greatly between sneaker models from the same seller. But through word-of-mouth, standout resellers get recommended more organically, of course you need connections to start with.
Agents: Your best friend if you're overseas, usually ran by freelancers merely collecting orders, reporting back to resellers and have them directly ship your kicks to your doorstep. Agents can be a single person, or a huge operation i.e. Wegobuy and Ytaopal.

How's the quality tho?

Depends. Some will try to bait-and-switch, some will bond genuine friendships for simply being a return customer. Factories often cut corners to save some dough and end up with a worse rep, so like the purpose of this sub, dig into forums and guide yourself to trustworthy sellers. Author also goes on a tangent and revealed the numbers and figures of selling reps, along with the sheer gold rush he's in now. Read below for more info.

Anything of note?

We're getting ripped off. Real hard, if you're a Mainlander chances are you're being sold 1/3 of the prices we see here. Part of the reason is that the multi-level reselling jacks up the price a lot, so unless you're buying in bulk for the purpose of selling them, good luck finding GET-passable OW AJ1's for less than $70. If you get caught selling, it's fines upwards of ¥50,000 and your license revoked, but nothing too serious beyond that. Author promised more novel shoes get made in the future, like Uggs and non-hypebeast dress shoes or sumthin.

With that outta the way, here's the translation for the whole article, hope you'll learn something for it and if there's any mistakes, feel free to point it out in DMs or just in the comments.
EDIT 17/05/2020: punctuation mistakes and missing formatting, also thanks for the kind words repfam

GOD'S HAND: The Secrets of Replica Sneaker Selling

Having been in the rep game for around 4 to 5 years, it all started out of sheer curiosity. I spent ¥1099 for Air Force 1's some celebrity wore, only to had my buddy show up on me with a fake pair of the same sneaker only costs ¥300.
Not everyone is some rich parents' spoiled brat where a pair of shoes costing a couple grand is considered pocket change, yet everyone has that sense of envy, the need to follow the hype to really stand out from the crowd, so do I honestly. But then again you'd only wear that pair of grails for only a good couple months and it'll be out of the wave, why not I find myself a more wallet-friendly way to do so?
Ever since dipping my toe into the replica community, I'm making connections, meeting new friends and getting scammed in every step I make, keeping contacts of my favorite sellers (looking back yeah they're not the best and cheapest isn't it huh). I'm deep in the rabbit hole now, buying so many pairs I'm starting to be able to tell batches at a glance, and where to hunt down that very best batch at the cheapest price. At this point it's natural that I'm thinking of selling these reps and becoming a middleman with the best of the batches under one roof (which is what's following below).
Anyone who has dealt with middlemen know that actually tracking down the direct factory outlets are nigh impossible, and the multiple stages of middlemen-ception where bigger but more discreet resellers selling to more minor, smaller middlemen can only make one dream of the sheer profit you can make for being on the very top of the pyramid, that idea has only been a mere blip in my mind. There was once in a bar my fam hollered at me with "Yo you remember that John Doe went to Putian for two years? Dude gave up college and has been filthy stinkin' rich by now!" I was like bah it'll never work out for me, but with the summer break I'd worth giving it a shot and have John Doe on the line. And boy howdy, ain't he wildin' right now with his business.
Some say every Nike you see there's 1/3 chance it's straight outta Putian, some say Nike's LC works by handling a pair of dumb shoes to an uninformed factory worker and have him say "fuck kinda shoes are these, looks cool I guess so it's legit?" The only way is to really tear down the whole sneaker and see the markings in UV, and once we're on the point where we can fake inside tags and its barcodes, ask yourself can call out fakes on feet?
A promotion for \"discount\" NB's on Weibo
Ever seen promos like these?
It's what I saw on Weibo today, and you've seen one like it yourself did you? They all look good on the images and you'd be right that they're photos of the real deal, just that of course the shoes you actually get were reps, and for each pair profits are never above ¥100; I sell ya an NB for ¥165, I'd only make ¥50.

REPLICA SNEAKERS: HOW DO THEY GET SOLD?

TAOBAO
Taobao has always been the single biggest hub for BST. Run by the faceless middlemen, sold by the page visits, and reviewed by the bots. And stores with inflated trust scores were used as a front, once costing hundreds of yuan to buy now go for the tens of thousands. As Taobao is taking action to curb counterfeits to make way for legitimate resellers, these fronts are getting more expensive by the day, since then people took it to WeChat later on.
Ask anyone who ran a Taobao store, and they'd tell you "you'll never make a cent unless you're selling fakes". A pair of (fake) shoes take some ¥100 to make, and can be sold as a legit like the thousands of yuan you see on their listings, you'd get away with dozens of fakes sold this way, where you can properly guage and adjust said price to match your profit margins. Once the rep game got popular and the snowball kept rolling, the problem got too big for Ma Yun to not ignore it and he went full banhammer on every rep seller. With every media outlet roasting Taobao's ass, everyone wises up to the knowledge that almost every sneaker you see could be fakes. The stigma lived on, and no one would touch any store where its place of origin writes "Putian".
When life gives you lemons, you make a whole damn lemonade stand and just circumvent the whole damn thing by appearing that you're not from Putian. Problem solved. As you check your shipping details, it always seems to travel from Shangai, Shenzen, Quanzhou or even goddamn Xiamen of all places, even overseas.

Proxy services are very popular due to China's stringent laws
When sneakers are labeled as being shipped from Hong Kong, of course the sellers gonna say "it's from Hong Kong" but in fact it's shipping from Shenzhen, and the seller's excuse is that the sneakers are going through HK's borders from Shenzen then to the buyer's location. Even if you bought fakes in Tmall however, it won't be as bad as the ones sold as legit retails in Taobao. There's just too many of these rip-offs anyway! Had a reseller came to me to buy 10 pairs of sneakers, I make ¥10 each pair, but he sold it as retails and went on to make ¥500 each. Of course I'd panicked a jacked a prices a bit so I could have my own slice of extra profit to ¥20 each pair, said the factories jacked the prices themselves as an excuse.
Hoe's mad I guess

WECHAT
While profit margins are no higher than Taobao, they still range around a dozen yuan on bulk. For all the actual friends I have in WeChat, I'd never believe them not having owned a replica sneaker in their whole life, blah blah blah "factory direct", "wholesale prices" my ass, who really can head to the factories and buy direct these days? Rep resellers buying bulk from those factories are truly the "direct from factory" purchases. Resellers then selling the reps to middlemen and agents, that's another step. Said middlemen then resell these reps to quote-on-quote "middlemen". (NB: may have been the very resellers we see on the sub) And it goes on and on and then, to you, the customer. The so-called A-grade reps you see on WC, let's say we buy it from the factory at ¥200 (for example, the real deal won't be this cheap) and sell to the end-user for ¥400~¥500, it does in fact look decent. Heck, retails may get "called out" in forums and reps may sneak under the radar. Chat and forum opinions aren't good indicatiors for a rep's actual quality. Thus you may wonder why buy retails at this point? No one would really hit the New Balance outlets at their local Wanda mall and ask the teeny-bop promoter lady if their kicks are legit anyway, so wouldn't this been the dream job you've wanted, right?
SMALL-TIME AGENTS
These sort of agents are mostly handling orders from overseas to cater the westerners, mainly Russian, SE-Asian, North/South American countries etc., and will never be some solo project as they always come in groups of a few dozen staff members. These agent groups can also hire decently well-spoken college students to help converse customers in English and pay them good pocket change, which is eerily similar to how Forex scams work before, but this time they're doing legit businesses for a change. Sort of.
FREELANCE AGENTS
The most common agent you may come across can be your close friends, they get instant payouts for attracting their local classmates to collect orders for reps, and this wannabe hustler reports them back to the resellers to ship to school dorms directly.

REPLICA BUILD AND QUALITY

Replicas reach far, far and wide. You could see your neighborhood cleaner aunt wearing 990v4s, motorbike taxi riders wearing Duck Camo AM90's, your kind old uncle next door exercising in Flyknit Racers and so on. NB, Nike, Converse, Ascis, Kappa; any brand you wanted they got it. ¥100 to ¥500 is what the factories charge, but after it hits resellers with a ¥200 hike, the illusion what seems to be a shoe that'll last breaks down as it wears out after a few wears. Bad stitching? Poorly-tumbled faux-leather? Off-moulded shape? I'd believe you but you sure you can tell if the EVA is fake by just looking on it? Is the gluing pattern underneath it visible even? A good deal of local boutiques sell ¥120 replicas at official retail prices like ¥599, a good ¥400 profit.
Putian factories are split into "heavy" and "light" industries. The heavy industries builds the sneaker as a whole from scratch, while the light industries were like CKD vehicles, where parts are purchased and assembled together instead. and quality of each part of the sneaker depends among factories. Lots of them try to cut corners to save every extra cent, which explains the decreasing quality of recent sneakers you see now. Larger factories has always been delivering consistently decent sneakers, as customers who contacted them are much picker and won't slash prices along with quality out of the blue. The stitching (and Nike Air units/Boost soles even!) is close enough to pass off as retails. Some of the more badass factories can make a batch of 100 brand new replicas for you, just hand in a donor retail pair and they'll get to work. The old dogs in Putian has been around for ages, runs most of the resellers you know and love. They buy reps from the factory direct at ¥140, sell to resellers at ¥160 and have the resellers push ¥180, at these prices the shoes are just not enough to satisfy demand. I've gave it an estimate if the factory got his order to 30 dozen pairs of reps, with each pair a ¥20 profit, we're looking at ¥7,000 a day or ¥20,000 a month in gross profit.
Of course, the Sales and Commerce Assoc. will still take a heavy hand on counterfeit sneakers till today, basically a few sellers every month get caught in the counterfeit business. The offenders walk into the office, sit down, had "the talk" yet again and pay a good ¥30k~¥50k fine and had their licenses taken away, for just awhile. Factories themselves get raided very seldom, maybe a every 6 months only a single factory gets caught per year. Putian has become the leading worldwide repsneaker operation for the entire world, and outputs around 50% the actual worldwide sneaker market, an estimated ¥20bn yearly. The Nikes and Adidases you wear now has an "OEM" for that. You may have bought a brand sneaker [in China], but it may very well be a fake regardless, to be fair the quality itself is indistinguishable anyway.

REPSNEAKER GRADES

1) The Standard Putian's cheapest offering, pretty much trash tier and a certain Taobao sells them the most often :^)
2) The GET Batch A huge improvement from the Standards, and the so-called 1:1 batch from the mouths of others. It's really not, some of the materials itself is not as fine or accurate as the real deal. Tmall often sells these batches, but often get sold as retails.
3) The 1:1 The absolute tip of the high-end replicas. Take it to HuPu.com and only the eagle-eyed few would call you out. Not everyone can get their hands on them, regardless of price. [eg: similar situation to UABat's Union AJ1's]
4) The Retail Nuff said, just retails. (But really, reps cost just 1/5 of the retail price, why bother lol?)
A snapshot of KFC6855's wares

HOW TO TELL FAKES

[The author essentially details how to LC NB998's, so this is best skipped as it adds nothing to the article other than repeating the author's point over and over.]

THE REPSNEAKER FUTURE

If you ever think replica sneakers will only remain within the hypebeast sporty trainer radar, oh you'd be surprised. The replica factories are on full steam, churning out Dr. Martens, UGGS, Tod's and a lot more to come. If you're interested, my WeChat: KFC6855 has them on sale right now, guaranteed to keep ya comfy this winter.

With all that said, I hope you learnt something from this, and now that you know if you really wanted a retail pair to sleep well at night, just don't get 'em in online stores. There's no glitz and glamor selling counterfeit sneakers, it's just business after all.
If you know, you know.

Beware, traders. How I tripled my net worth and lost it all within 1 month on Binance Futures.

To start, I'll introduce myself. I'm a 19-year-old college student and I've been investing in cryptocurrency and trading forex for the last 3 years. I was drawn to trading for all the wrong reasons. I wanted fast money. I wanted a thrill. I wanted to gamble.
In mid-July, I invested in Swipe (SXP). The DeFi craze was just getting started and SXP seemed like a front-runner with an amazing project. I bought a small amount around $0.60 and watched it triple within a week or two. Yet, at $1.80, people still thought the token was heavily undervalued, including me. This is when I decided to first try out Binance Margin and Futures.
Futures are very similar to leverage trading on forex, so I felt semi-comfortable with what I was doing. I spent about $400 to open up a 7000 SXP long near $1.40 during a flash dip. For those of you that followed SXP, I'm sure you know what happened. My position went green immediately and never looked back. Over the next 2 weeks, SXP climbed to just over $5. I held my position the entire time. At its peak, my $400 worth of margin was worth $27,000. I was euphoric. It was the most money, by far, I'd ever had in my life. I started dreaming of achieving financial independence before 20.
But then, SXP started going down. Fast. I closed out at $4.20, sitting on around $22k. And what did I do? I immediately opened up another long. A much larger position. I wanted to reach 6 figures on this run. I got liquidated quickly, bought back in at $4, then $3.70, then $3.50. All liquidated. I decided to throw my last $14,000 on a 22,000 SXP long. And once that got liquidated too, I was about $8,000 underwater. Not only did I lose all my paper profit, but I also lost the majority of the money I had been saving for years.
I was crushed. I didn't know what to do with myself. I started transferring whatever money I could get my hands on into my futures account. I started being reckless, hoping to hit big again like before. I became more reckless with my money than I ever have and quickly lost that too. This time the losses felt different. I was numb to them. My $1000 losses felt like nothing compared to what I had already lost, even though that $1000 was now a bigger % of my net worth than it ever had been.
In summary, my greed got the best of me. And I lost so much that I didn't give a shit about anything anymore. I hope this story will help other traders avoid the mistakes I made.
Btw, I opened up one last long at $1.70. Gonna ride it up to $8.

Is Forex actually simple? Or am I following for social media marketing/scam?

High school student, seeing friends and college students on social media saying how they make enough to quit their part time/full time jobs from forex, when some have only been on it for a few months. Almost all say they are in groups, and people should join to get videos and it’s best to learn with a mentor and a group to share trades. Some try to recruit. Some say although you have to pay, it’s worth it because of what you get to learn.
Maybe the answer is obvious, but they can’t all be lying right? I’m talking I’ve seen hundreds-thousands of high school and college students all claim the same thing about forex on social media. I obviously haven’t seen any profit, as in clear money from forex, but I find it insane, but hard to believe that all these people fall under the same umbrella and are lying/spewing hyperboles
EDIT: falling for a * in title

Being forced to be a MLM down-line by my own parents...

Some background - first of all, I'm a midterm college student currently staying at home for obvious reasons. In recent months my parents have pressured me to start making money, saying "You need to start working on financial independence" or something like that. First off I opened an online shop selling my parents' merchandise clothing (they have actual stores for this one tho, no LLR stuff or whatever). Decided to pull out as academic stuff takes over my life.
As time and the pandemic rolls on, my parents have started hinting on how lazy I am by refusing to earn money on my own, asking "What do you wanna do in your life then to start earning money ?". When I told them I can't restart the online shop just yet because of my college, they then said "okay, we understand your situation" ... Oh, how wrong I was.
Shortly thereafter my mother got ecstatic when she came across an "opportunity" on instagram posted by one of her church friends. We set up a (physical, not that I think its wise) meeting not long after and by the time we arrived I know already - I'm being roped into a MLM by MY OWN PARENTS. For context, the MLM is some sort of forex trading investment company called NET89
I honestly would have refused joining, but with my mother there and my parents' pressure on me I was scared and didn't dare saying 'no' since in this pandemic & amid college sh** I don't have a chance yet to pursue a career, meaning I'm still very much dependent on my parents for sustenance (like most college students where I am - not in the USA, student loans are a foreign concept here). My parents used their personal money to pay for it though.
A few months have gone by since, and with me NOT EVEN MENTIONING the MLM to anyone else and flat-out refusing to support the company in any way I decided to pull out the money from my account. My parents got furious at me, saying "What you've done was an obvious loss", "You're being stupid by acting that way", "All companies may as well be MLMs since they ask consumers to promote them" ...
Yeah, so ... Here I am. Being involved in an obvious scam because of my parents pulling me in without an option to get out of it whatsoever.
What do you think I should do ?
How can I get out of this ?
FYI ; I wish I could look for a job but like I said before, with my college being super busy right now despite being online (they think students are just slacking around at home, thus churning out assignments at breakneck pace) ... I can't, yet.

My Story

Hello everyone Im a longtime lurker and decide to post my story on my second account. Im 21 (m) and just like most of the people on this sub I’m a also virgin but I don’t see myself as a loser because of that. I have been offered by people to lose my card but I choose to reject their offer because of age or because I ain’t feeling it from the person offering it. Idk I’m the type of person that wants to have an emotional connection with someone rather than a sexual one.
Alright, So I come from an Hispanic Immigrant Family and I am part of the first generation to be born in the United States and first to go to college from my family (including cousins). And before I was born my destiny was set in stone as I would have the responsibility to carry my family out of poverty and into the lime light. With this my happiness was pushed aside and I was pushed to become a great student so our future would look bright but unfortunately along the way my knees buckled along the way as I was moving towards that goal.
So I guess I should explain my situation which all starts with my family situation. My parents are people who were too immature and not ready to have kids and unfortunately I was the first and that meant I was the test subject for them. Now I don’t hate myself or anything in general really but I hate my Dad in fact I hate my own name because it reminds me of him (I’m jr he’s sr) and I hate that because he was the cause for so much physical abuse and I’m not talking about the stereotypical sandal moment, I’m talking about getting a toy firetruck smashed on your head. Meanwhile on the other side I was subject to emotional abuse from my mom which was due to the shitty relationship they had and I was the stress outlet for both of them.
People do grow though and change along the way but I’m just too detached to them that I don’t want reconcile or continue to move forward with them. As said before I was the test subjest because by the second they improved and by the third they cracked the puzzle and finally succeeded at parenting. The thing is I am kinda jealous of my brother and sister on how they were treated and how they were able to relax and nothing was really expected of them. Which in turn has made detached from them because I have nothing in common with them but being born from the same person. Nor do I expected them to help with what was thrusted upon me one thinks shes hard and the other is lazy and cant read at all despite being in 8th grade. But besides that fact in all honesty I don’t see them as family but more as people I just live with. With my family situation in the gutter it basically set the foundation for the state of my mental health.
My mental health started becoming apparent in high school around sophomore year when I started to suffer from a lack of motivation when it came to moving forward with my life. It eventually escalated as time went on and it got was worse especially after high school. Because after high school I started getting some of my old memories pop up randomly and they were all about how I was treated as kid. None of them were pleasant memories such as the firetruck incident and all the physical and emotional abuse from my past. Which in turn brought me to an existential crisis as I questioned what I was working towards and this is where my knees started buckling and succumbed to the weight of the stress and responsibility thrusted upon me without my consent and I was left wondering why am I fighting for people I never really cared about or had my best interest. So while I was dealing with all this I was trying to deal with my depression which was by focusing on something no matter how small it was.
Which brings me to the light at the end of the tunnel which was Wrestling and I fell in love the moment I saw it for the first time because of the story telling aspect of it. I never understood someone’s passion for being an accountant, a manager or etc until I compared to my love for wrestling. Not only that but I don’t see it as just a sport but as a way out because it was the only thing that was able to keep me going. No matter how far I go back wrestling was always a part of my fun childhood moments unfortunately. Wether it be playing with my friends, or watching it on tv.
As time went on I even eventually got tired of watching it and wanted to be apart of it and wanted to make a career but their is no money to be made when starting out. So I gave up and decided to go to school and I am currently one year and a half from graduating but I just couldn’t take it anymore, because I wasn’t able to get internships and it wasn’t something I could see myself doing for the rest of my life. So on News Years some shit went down and I decided that 2020 would be the year that I would be happy by taking the steps necessary to focus on wrestling but unfortunately Covid hit so I couldn’t pursue that and eventually I stopped working out and just let everything go and pass me by as I shut myself in my room and only go out to work. Which leads to where I am now.
But before that I kept on mentioning an event that happened on News Years and that was where we went to visit my cousins in arizona and from their we went to Flagstaff where it snows and I was at awe because I just love the snow since I’m from California I don’t get too see much of it. Along the way back my mom was complaining the whole time as she wanted to go back home instead of Flagstaff and kept at it for the whole trip including insults and stuff about our cousins. It got bad to a point where I just wanted to jump out the car but since I was driving I didn’t want to take anyone’s else’s life with me nor did I want to cause a car crash as I was on the freeway. We went to eat later that day and she just kept at it and while I was their I went to the bathroom and broke down as I was praying for someone to save me and looking for a way to end my life. Instead of that I gave myself an ultimatum and that was if I don’t change my position in life by the end of 2020 I would unfortunately bite the bullet because I just need a Way Out of this place/situation I’m in.
I’m doing this ultimatum because I’m hoping it will motivate me to continue moving forward. Its currently august and I have payed of my debts, dropped out of school (hated my major), quit my job and got another one (thinking about quitting my new job), and I picked up forex in hopes of making money that way. With 4 months left on my ultimatum it seems like I haven’t done much but it’s whatever.
The thing is people have the impression that if you talk about your problems you will magically be saved but I could talk to someone about my problems for days but the thing is I don’t need to talk about my problems what I need is a way out of my current position in life and I have thought about spending a month in Japan just exploring and spending my last month alive their but Covid unfortunately came along and ruined what hope I did have if I were able to describe my situation in a song it would be the song Maze by Juice WRLD and the song Come back to Earth by Mac Miller.
The things is if I die I’m gonna miss trivial things like not being able to see the ending of Attack on Titan, Solo Leveling, My Hero Academia, Wings, McDonalds, In-n-out, Pizza, Food/Anime/Wrestling in general, the new music I’m gonna miss or even seeing what path my little cousin is going to take as he grows up. And Depending on what I choose to do moving forward I will try to update you guys with my progress and if I don’t then I guess I bite the bullet. Anyways thanks for reading my story feels more like a Memoir but I just wanted to get this of my chest.
SideNote: Also sorry for it being so long but this is just the surface theirs actually a lot more I could go into detail but I went on long on enough.

IML Frustration (rant)

So apparently another one of my friends have "discovered" Forex through IML and during that same week now all of a sudden their a "Fx guru" and making millions. To me this is a slap in the face because I have been trying to teach myself how to trade for 2 years, but I never became profitable only because I didn't have no clear direction other then Babypips. It wasn't until I joined this fb group that strictly teaches technical analysis and compares markups with each other that I finally started to grasp the concept of trading, and even though i'm not be profitable yet at least i'm on the right path of becoming so. Now what is really irritating me about this friend is how i'm being told how i'm wasting my time trying to learn fx on my own, and how I can start making "bags" if I join IML using their signals and Harmonic scanner that's worth $100,000. If I wanted to do IML I would have done so from the very beginning, but sadly with me being a college student I don't have the funds to maintain a account with them, but not only that I wouldn't have done IML in the first place after I found out that they tell you what the do rather then you figuring it out for yourself. I'm the type of person that don't like to rely on somebody else to determine my success especially when money is evolved.

Can traders who don’t scam help me understand the appeal of Forex?

Soon to be college freshman, and I’ve seen a large rise in Forex traders amongst high schoolers and college students around my age. Enough that it’s not surprising how easy it is to convince someone to start. They all say “ Get rich quick”, “Make a second income from your phone”, “I’ve been using Forex for “time period under a year”, and have been making more than your parents”. Literally everyone pushes a “ I’m making a shit ton of money and I just started image”, which is obscene to me. One thing about them is that they never show actual profit, or explain Forex enough so I can understand the appeal.
Almost everyone say to join a class or group or something similar, then I found out there’s a fee to get in, and that apparently it’s some type of scam where those new traders try to enlist under people and get fees(200$+). None of the traders ever talk about failures in the process of achieving positives, or negatives/setbacks. Pretty much they make it sound like a perfect money maker
For one, I can’t really believe this is a get rich quick scheme, especially for freshman college students I know who can barely save or handle their finances/allowance money. And if it was, then it would be way more popular, because then everyone would be rich as long as they joined the group.
I haven’t met anyone who told me they studied on their own, but that they joined a group. I see pictures of seminars and group meetings, and advertisements to “join my Forex group”, with a older college student in front of a car wearing a nice outfit.
Plus, if you’re actually skeptical, a lot of them get defensive or showcase a “ I’m smarter and you’ll wish you started this” type rant. Some say, “this is my only income, I don’t have even a part time job “
I’m not saying I doubt Forex value, but I doubt the narratives pushed , but I assume these teenagers don’t research as much as you guys regardless, so honestly were you guys really making extreme profit starting off? If not, when did you guys see extreme profit? If yes, how much research and time did you put in?
Are the groups needed? Can you use this as a single income?
I’ve just started getting into investing with a, make money for the long road instead of get rich quick. Is Forex more in that side?

Need help po sa mga experienced investors dito sa Pinas

I'm graduating soon in college in the field of Computer Science. As an entry level programmer, maliit talaga ang sweldo. I'm planning to invest my savings into something habang maaga pa kahit maliit lang na portion sa sweldo. Wala po talaga akong background sa investing since student pa po talaga ako and naka focus pa po sa studies. I'm quite intrigue sa Stocks, Forex, at Real Estate. How do I start investing? How much po ba ang need i-invest sa monthly salary? Need napo ba maghanap ng insurance after grumaduate ng college? At bakit po kailangang mag ipon na for retirement kahit maaga pa po?
PS: Wala po talaga akong ma tanungan. If may extra pera ako, sasali na sana ako sa mga financial conference. Tanong tanong muna ako sa reddit. Thank you po.

What is Forex and is it a ripoff?

So I’m about to be a college freshman, and one thing I’ve seen get extremely popular between older high schoolers and college students is Forex. I assume it’s some investment tool, use your money to make more money while relaxing at home is the slogan I see from a lot of users I know..
The things is, they barely say anything about it besides “ come use it, you’re gonna be making bank”, and a lot of the users literally changed from normal social media post to only Forex awareness posts. Everyone I’m close to who uses it has a part time job minimum, so I assumed if you don’t have steady money there’s no point. But then there’s also a couple of people who said they don’t have a job that act like Forex is godsend, hilariously though they never show their actually money increase even though they brag about it.
I know some people charge in the hundreds to get a step in to understanding, but I’ve also read it’s not mandatory. I assume it’s either a scam, or it’s a “high reward, easy failure” situation. I also assume a lot of people over exaggerate their wins and hid their losses.
The thing is they all make it seem like once you’ve started , you’re guaranteed money. But if that was the case, I’d assume everyone would be using it since it’s so simple to make money from there.
Can anyone explain Forex to me? Is it really a good tool for investments?

Reality Check, Please

Hi everyone,
Seeing the recent volatility in the markets has inspired me to brush off my trading cap and try my hand again after taking a year and a half hiatus. I’m currently in college studying International Economics and I’m hoping trading will be a good way to put my some of my schooling to work.
I am trying to estimate the feasibility of starting up a small account (~10k) with a few of my classmates who are top students studying Computer Science/Finance/Econ. What sort of returns are to be expected for relative beginners in current FOREX volatility?
Our current plan is to swing trade, taking intraweek positions to capture the back and forth in the EUUSD. I have completed the BabyPips course and have read some other books (namely Kathy Lien’s best selling FOREX manual). From googling around in forums, it has been hard to filter the bullshit returns that lots of folks claim to have. How realistic is a 5% monthly target? Would I be better off putting my 10k in another asset class now and walking away?
Thanks for you help! Any advice is appreciated.
Edit: Hey folks thanks for the advice! So far there’s been a range of optimism, which has been inspiring and fun to read. I wrote this post on the fly, and I understand I made it seem as if I were going to dump a whole 10k all at once for 3 trades. Not the plan for now..
